I’m a 40 something ‘girl’ who has suffered from depression for as long as I can remember. Over the last year I have been fortunate enough to receive some great treatment (finally) both pharmacological, educational and psychotherapeutic.
After a lot of trauma and soul searching, I finally have an understanding of what contentment can feel like and how I can achieve it. I also experience genuine happiness, a brand new sensation for me. I am making plans for the future, booking experiences and generally starting to live my life. Being this new, positive person, I obviously want to share what I have learnt.
This blog is my way of sharing what I have learnt so that others can hopefully benefit, as well as sharing some of my experiences so that others know they are not alone. Depression is an awful thing to experience. There are no visible scars or bandages. You can’t prove you are ill in the way that most people can. What makes it worse is that very few understand what you are going through. If you ever try to talk to someone about it, watch them squirm, avoid all eye contact and try to walk on quickly.
Read on to find out that you are normal and you are not alone.
